Privacy & Cookie Policy

This Policy explains how Media Entertainment Limited collects, uses, shares, stores and protects personal information when people browse mediaentertainmentme.com, place guest orders, receive deliveries, request support, make returns or purchase optional services.

1  Who is responsible for your information

Media Entertainment Limited is responsible for the personal information described in this Policy. Our statutory details are in the website footer. Privacy questions and requests should be sent to order@mediaentertainmentme.com.

Because we are a UK company, relevant UK data-protection duties may apply to our processing. Canadian commercial transactions may also be subject to PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy law. US residents may have rights under a state privacy law where its scope and thresholds are met. This Policy is intended to provide a consistent baseline and does not reduce a mandatory local right.

2  Information we collect

  • Identity and contact data: name, email address, telephone number, billing address and delivery address.
  • Order data: products, quantities, price, currency, tax, shipping, customs, order status, serial number, warranty and return history.
  • Payment data: Alipay transaction identifiers, payment status, limited verification information and refund records. Alipay processes complete payment credentials under its own privacy terms.
  • Communications: messages, complaints, support history, photographs, video, diagnostic information and service quotations.
  • Delivery data: courier, tracking number, delivery status, signature or collection information where supplied by the carrier.
  • Technical and security data: IP address, browser and device information, session identifiers, logs, timestamps, security events and essential cookie data.
  • Optional service data: device details, configuration, service scope, support records and access information voluntarily provided for setup, monitoring, cloud or technical support.

3  How information is collected

We collect information directly from you at guest checkout and when you contact us. We also receive limited information from Alipay, couriers, fulfilment providers, fraud-prevention services and technical systems. We do not offer public user profiles or public customer-content features.

4  Why we use information

  • To verify, accept, fulfil, deliver, cancel, return and refund orders.
  • To process payment through Alipay and maintain transaction and accounting records.
  • To provide customer support, troubleshoot products, administer warranties and resolve complaints.
  • To quote and provide separately agreed setup, monitoring, cloud or technical-support services.
  • To prevent fraud, misuse, security incidents and unlawful activity and to protect legal rights.
  • To comply with tax, customs, product-safety, recall, court, regulatory and other legal obligations.
  • To maintain, secure and debug the custom-built website and essential checkout functions.

5  Legal bases and consent

Where UK data-protection law applies, we generally process information because it is necessary to enter into or perform a sales or service contract, comply with law, or pursue legitimate interests in secure operations, fraud prevention, support and legal claims. We use consent where the law requires it and consent may be withdrawn prospectively.

Under Canadian privacy law, we seek meaningful consent appropriate to the sensitivity and context, except where collection, use or disclosure without consent is legally permitted. We collect only information reasonably needed for identified purposes.

6  No advertising sale or profiling

We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising and do not use it for advertising profiles. We do not send promotional email or text messages; contact details are used for orders, delivery, support, warranty, optional agreed services, security and legal records.

7  Who receives information

  • Alipay and related payment, identity and fraud-prevention providers.
  • US and Canadian warehouses, fulfilment providers, couriers, customs agents and delivery partners.
  • Hosting, website, cybersecurity, communications, data-storage and IT-support providers.
  • Manufacturers or repair partners where necessary to diagnose or resolve a warranty claim.
  • Accountants, auditors, insurers, lawyers and other professional advisers subject to appropriate duties.
  • Government, regulators, courts, law enforcement or other parties where legally required or necessary to protect rights, safety and security.
  • A genuine buyer, investor or successor in a proposed or completed business transaction, subject to confidentiality and lawful-use limits.

8  International handling

We are a UK company serving US and Canadian customers and using service providers in relevant fulfilment and technology locations. Information may therefore be accessed or stored outside the customer’s state, province or country. Privacy laws and government-access rules may differ.

Where required, we use contractual, organisational or other recognised safeguards for international transfers and remain accountable for information processed on our behalf. Contact us for general information about relevant safeguards, subject to security and confidentiality limits.

9  Retention

We keep personal information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes above and any legal, tax, accounting, warranty, product-safety, fraud and dispute periods. Typical criteria include the life of the order or service, warranty and extended-warranty period, statutory recordkeeping periods, chargeback windows and limitation periods.

When information is no longer required, we delete it, anonymise it, or securely restrict it until deletion is possible. Backups may persist for a limited rotation period.

10  Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical measures proportionate to the information and risk. Measures may include access controls, authentication, encryption in transit, logging, vendor controls, backups and incident procedures. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be promised.

If a breach occurs, we will investigate and notify affected people and regulators where the applicable law requires it.

11  Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, update, delete or obtain a copy of personal information; withdraw consent; object to or restrict certain processing; or complain about our handling. Email order@mediaentertainmentme.com. We may verify identity and may retain information where law, fraud prevention, a transaction or legal claim requires it.

We will not discriminate against a person for exercising a privacy right. If we deny a request, we will explain the reason and available complaint or appeal route where required. Canadian residents may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the appropriate provincial regulator. UK rights may be raised with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. US residents may use any regulator or appeal route provided by applicable state law.

12  Children

The store is for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children for independent purchases. Contact us if you believe a child submitted information without appropriate authority.

13  Essential cookies and external links

We use only cookies or similar storage needed for security, session continuity, cart, checkout and basic preferences, as described in the Cookie Policy. External services, including Alipay and carrier links, have their own privacy practices. Review their notices before providing information directly to them.

14  Changes and contact

We may update this Policy prospectively to reflect legal, technical or operational changes. The effective date identifies the current version. Material changes will be highlighted where appropriate. Contact order@mediaentertainmentme.com with “Privacy request” in the subject line.

Cookie Policy

This Policy explains the limited cookies and similar technologies used on mediaentertainmentme.com. The website does not use analytics, advertising pixels or behavioural marketing trackers as of the effective date.

1  What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored by a browser. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage and security tokens. They can keep a session working, remember a cart, protect checkout and store a limited preference.

2  Technologies we use

We use only strictly necessary or functionally essential technologies required to operate and secure the custom-built website. These may support session management, shopping cart contents, checkout progress, load balancing, fraud prevention, security controls, language or region choice, and remembering a privacy preference.

We do not currently use Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta/Facebook Pixel, TikTok Pixel or other advertising and audience-measurement trackers. We do not create behavioural advertising profiles.

3  First-party and third-party storage

First-party cookies are set for our website domain. A necessary third-party provider, such as Alipay, may set or read its own cookies when its payment interface is loaded or opened. That provider controls its cookies under its own notice. We do not control cookies set on a separate third-party website.

4  Duration

A session cookie expires when the session or browser ends. A persistent cookie remains until its stated expiry or manual deletion. We configure necessary technologies for no longer than reasonably required for their function, security and fraud prevention.

5  Browser controls

Most browsers allow cookies to be viewed, blocked or deleted. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent the cart, checkout, payment, security or preference functions from working. Browser “do not track” signals do not have a uniform legal or technical meaning; because we do not use behavioural advertising trackers, we do not use such signals to alter advertising activity.

6  Consent and changes

Strictly necessary technologies are used because the requested website and transaction cannot operate securely without them, to the extent permitted by law. If we later introduce analytics, advertising or other non-essential tracking, we will update this Policy and implement any consent, opt-out or signal mechanism required before using it.

The website operator should maintain an accurate technical cookie inventory. Cookie names, providers, purposes and lifetimes may change when the custom website or Alipay integration is updated; the live settings and any on-site cookie panel should match this Policy.

7  Contact

Questions about cookies or local storage may be sent to order@mediaentertainmentme.com.
